Support for Health and Safety in schools

The aim of The Health and Safety service is to offer support, guidance and advice to all education establishments. This includes ensuring that pupils, staff and visitors work in a safe and healthy environment in accordance with current Health and Safety legislation.

We achieve this by offering advice and guidance on:

• The statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (H&S) at Work Act and subordinate legislation including current updates
• Reinforcing the five strands of the Every Child Matters agenda
  Suitable emergency and pandemic planning arrangements for educational establishments
• The development of H&S management systems in educational establishments
• The provision of training and development support for school management and staff on issues relating to H&S
• The reduction of work related stress through the Wellbeing Programme
