Governor Support Services

Cambridge Education @ Islington provides both an information and advice service, along with a training and development programme for school governing bodies.

Together these two elements provide a comprehensive package of support which has been designed to ensure effective school governance. The purpose of the service is to assist governing bodies when carrying out their key responsibilities and improving schools:

• helping to shape the vision and direction of the school
• ensuring it fulfils its statutory duties
• having a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the school
  both challenging and supporting the leadership team

The key feature of this service is the offer of independent advice and support, which is targeted at, and specific to, the work of the governing body in the school community.  The Governor Support Service also provides a general advisory service to headteachers. We would be delighted to hear from any school that feels it might benefit from any aspect of the training, advice and support we are able to offer.
